Leaving Athens and driving across the Mesogaia plain, we reach the countryside of Brauron. Our first stop takes us to an imposing medieval Tower, built during the Francocracy and still standing among the vineyards of the area.
We then move to our main destination, the ancient sanctuary of Artemis, to explore the sites of worship to the goddess: the temple, the sacred spring, the Tomb of Iphigenia, an ancient stone bridge.
A visit at the Archaeological Museum will help you discover in depth the history of the site and the myths and rites related to Artemis.
We then set off on a small hike in the Erasinos River reserve. You will have the chance to discover the unspoiled beauty of the wetlands and try to spot the rare birds and animals that live in this protected area.
Our excursion concludes with a rewarding stop by the sea, at the nearby coastal town of Loutsa. There, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a meal at a tavern or a swim in the sea, according to your wish, before taking our way back to Athens.
